I was wondering if anyone has or if anyone has any ideas on throwing a big event/fundraiser? Cara's 4th birthday is coming up in November and with World Diabetes Day on November 14th I thought that an event/fundraiser would be a great idea to celebrate Cara's birthday. So I would LOVE to throw a big event for the kids and parents in my area as a fundraiser for the We CARA Lot team. Has anyone thrown an event/fundraiser before?
My idea: These are just my thoughts so far and subject to A LOT of change. Cara loves princesses right now so I was thinking a princess and knight theme event. With face painters, cotton candy machine (blue), jugglers or jesters, some games or a few fun activities for the kids to play, raffle prizes and a main act (the show stopper). Maybe a winter wonderland decor with a lot of ice blues to represent World Diabetes Day. I would need a hall or a small restaurant to donate there space and some really cute invitations. Invitations are my favorite to make, I get so excited to make invitations for all my kids birthdays. So far that is it? I thought about this a while ago and then with Chris telling me that it would be a lot of work and not that much support from my family I kinda put it on the back burner but I'm ready to go full force now!!
Also I'm wondering what people are doing for World Diabetes Day?

Our first sick day
So this week I faced one of my biggest fears since Cara's diagnoses.....A Sick day!
The day started off normal and chaotic like usual. Cody has had a runny noise for quite sometime now but I think that he is just teething. All seemed healthy! Cara's BG was a little high but nothing outrages and she was acting a little tired but I thought it was because of the high BG. I did notice I was having a hell of a time getting her numbers down. So the day past without any thought of someone being sick. I was putting all the kids to bed when IT happened. I was busy putting Cody to bed when on the monitor in my room I could her some commotion upstairs. I rolled my eyes and just ignored it, thinking that is was Cara playing around in her room. Recently we have been having trouble with her going to bed. (READ ALL ABOUT IT IN THIS POST) Then I heard Kailyn (my oldest) "MOM MOM hurry, come fast Cara is throwing up. OMG are you kidding me my heart sunk, I ran upstairs and Cara's head is in the toilet....poor Cara. She looked up at me with her big doe eyes and says "mom I don't feel good" So I clean up the bathroom and I yelled down to Kailyn to get me Cara's monitor and some Gravol, she was 5.5 . I decided to give her 15 grams of carbs and hope to God she could keep it down. I called my husband at work, of course he was working late and told him he needed to get home as soon as possible because I really don't know what to do if she vomits again. When she was diagnosed we were told to bring her to the hospital if she vomits twice or more. And that was that, Cara fell asleep for the night, my husband came home early, I went on facebook to talk to my D mom bloggers (thanks again girls) and everything was fine after that. Cara made it through the night without getting sick again and her BG was 6.3. I'm relived and happy that we made it through our first sick day experience and now I'm just waiting for the 2nd! lol
