Year One with Type One

Year 1 with T1: we struggled, we questioned, we cried, we fought, we made new friends, we worked together, we bonded, we had ups and downs, good days and bad, we supported and where supported, we lost some and won many,we smiled, we laughed and we made it through our first year.

So as a gift to us, our family we decided to celebrate our first year with T1 with a vacation to Niagara falls with the whole family, well not the whole family poor baby Cody stayed at home with his grandparents.

We had a wonderful time, we stayed 3 days and two night
We had a wonderful time at the RainForest Cafe

and I found this in the restroom, which I have never seen before in a public restroom and as soon as I saw it I thought of all of you :)

We had sooo much fun in the indoor waterpark that was connected to our hotel

There was tons of things for the kids to do

and of course we saw the FALLS

We all had a wonderful time even Cody. He loved spending one on one time with his grandparents.

I had to do a double take! I LOVE your new blog look!! :)

That sharps container is AWESOME!!! I am so impressed...I would love to know the story behind it! I guess some things are mysteries.

I'm so glad you got away! That is a wonderful family vacation. I've always wanted to visit the falls. I have memories of my Great Grandmothers house. She had visited the falls once and had made three photo albums of postcards from there. I used to sit there and look at the pictures for hours. She left me those albums when she moved. I was 9 at the time, and when I was a teen I took out the postcards and used the albums to put pics of me and my friends. (And of course now I wish I hadn't.)

HOLY LONG COMMENT BATMAN! Just a lot of memories. :)

I had to change my blog skin because there is something wrong with my link colours and I could not figure it out sooo I found a skin that would work with the colours :)

Love all the pics! I am so happy you all celebrated the way you did!

I did not realize Cody did not go on the trip with you and I kept seeing the pics with just the 5 kids and kept thinking "where is the littlest one?" Good to know he was not forgotten in the pics. :)

Nice pics Nicole. Isn't Rainforest Cafe so awesome ! Adele would have loved the hotel / water park. We've never been to Niagra Falls... yet.

And congrats on the 1 year anniversary. It's not as exciting as a wedding anniversary or a birthday (when you're young at least), but it means that you're doing an awesome job caring for Cara.

Hello Nicole,

I came across your post today and could not believe my eyes. I was just visiting Niagra Falls with my six year old son, who has type 1 diabetes too, and you have posted a picture of something I will never forget from our visit - the sharps container at Rainforest Cafe! I had never seen one in a public washroom until then and strangely, I was more excited about that than the Falls!

It's funny the things that become photo and blog comment worthy, living this life! Thank you for posting that picture and making me smile! Now, if that great restaurant would just have nutritional info available...... (I did not guess correctly!)

I am so glad for you, Cara and your family that you had this time away - you all deserved it with this milestone.

Take good care,

Michelle,
