To Carb or Not To Carb....day 4 of Diabetes Blog Week!

To carb or not to carb that is the question of today's topic for diabetes blog week.

However it really has never been a question for us,

I really never thought that there may be another way, we just do what we are told to do for Cara when the doctors tell us to and how they tell us to.  That might sound weird but it makes sense to us and it seems to be working just fine right now.  We are still on multiple injection of insulin through out the day, Cara does not have the pump YET so we are restricted on how many carbs Cara receives and when she receives them.  But yes she does eat a specific amount of carbs at specific times of the day and non carb snacks when she can't have carbs.

So really not sure if that answers the question.... I guess my answer is kinda both??

When Addy was on MDI, she got 3 meals, 45 carbs each and 3 snacks, 15 carbs each. PERIOD. P.E.R.I.O.D.

Not less. Not more.

That's the way were taught and I was scared to death to deviate because things weren't going so well with all her scary lows...if it wasn't working when we followed the rules, what the heck was going to happen if we didn't??????????

You're doing a great job :) Cara is absolutely beautiful and I'm so excited about your journey to the pump!

I love carbs! Nate loves carbs. Nate was limited on carbs when we did shots and even though we are pumping I still stay close to those original carb counts. :)

Seems like you answered it perfectly well. Your routine sounds very similar to Caleb's first couple of months. We do what we have to.
