Getting BOOK Smart? READ THIS!!

I'm looking for a little more knowledge,

I'm looking for a or a couple good books to read,

I'm not a reader typically, o.k.very rarely, well... I should say almost never do I read books.  I really could not tell you the last time I actually finished a book.  I want to, I really do but I'm more a listener.  Listening makes sense to me, that is just how I learn, it seems to stick if I listen.  It gets all mumbled jumbled when I read.

BUT I'm going to give it a shot because knowledge is power and when your fighting T1 you need all the power you can get.

SOOOOO my "sweet" DOC what book/books would you recommend for a mom with a child with type 1 diabetes about, of course... type 1 diabetes?

I'm kinda looking forward to this, something to fill my summer with and thank you in advance :)

Maybe I can do a book review or at least little updates throughout my summer education!

Think Like a Pancreas and Pumping Insulin are both on my nightstand now. I would recommend both of them even though I haven't finished either one yet. I am learning good stuff!

Definitely Think Like A Pancreas. I haven't read it from start to finish, but I use it to look up whenever I have specific questions. I learned a lot about timing of shots depending on type of food and blood sugar at the time of eating.

I highly recommend Not Dead Yet by Phil Southerland. It is a very inspiring story! He is proof that no matter what your children inspire to be, they can tackle anything with type 1. Phil became a pro bike racer and started Team Type 1, a group of diabetic pro bikers that race across the country.
