As I was lying in bed right ready to drift off to sleep my husband decide to ask me a very interesting question with two options (one I'm sure will never ever happen the other I hope to God it does).
And I'm interested to see what you think. I'm interested to see if the parents/family of people with diabetes answer any different then people with diabetes. I'm interested to see what women think compared to men, what mothers think vs fathers. I'm just interested...
Now when you read this question I want you to think really hard, give it a little time, think about what these two options would do for you, what these two options would do for your whole family.
OK are you ready for it?
If you had the choice would you rather win 10 million dollars OR have the cure for type 1 diabetes discovered?
Just think about it, you have a choice one or the other! What would the money do for your whole family BUT then how amazing would it be to have your daughter(s)/son(s)/self/husband/wife cure of type 1 diabetes.
Hmmmm, so what do you think?
I have my answer that I formulated last night as I was lying in bed wide awake (thanks to somebody) and I will post it in a few days after you all had sometime to answer.

CURE!!!!!!
A cure. I don't even have to think about it. Money can't buy health. And her health and future health... can't put a price on it; it's priceless. Parents who do not have a child with D or another chronic illness... speaking from past experience, you never give your good health, or your child's good health too much thought; you kind of take it for granted. Occasionally you may give thanks; but day-to-day it is not a huge concern. Praying for a day when all children will be healthy, no chronic diseases of any kind, no deaths from epidemics... $10 million can't buy that.
I'm going to be honest here and I hope I don't get flamed for it, and keep in my mind this answer only reflects on ME personally.
I would take the 10 million.
I have never felt, in 19 years of being T1, that diabetes is going to shorten my life span. But I do know that I, and my family and many people I know, would benefit greatly from the money.
That being said, if I had a CHILD with T1, or any other incurable disease, I would choose the cure, no doubt about it. But for me personally, I would take the money, and keep on working hard to take care of myself to the best of my abilities.
This would be an easy answer a CURE!!! Seriously no amount of money is worth not getting a cure.
I don't need any time to think about it . . . Cure for Sure! Great question :)
A cure. No question, no hesitation.
When Fred and I were first married, our grocery budget was $20 per week. I've lived on next to nothing and was just fine with it.
I would want the cure more.
i definately want the CURE!
Cure! I giggled at your question because my son has asked me numerous times, "If the cure cost $1 million dollars, would you buy it for me?". I tell him all the time that I don't care how much it would cost, we would find a way to buy the cure for him! His eyes get as big as saucers every time.lol
Cure, cure, cure!!!!
Cure!
I guessed the question before I read it - and I don't need time to think abut it. CURE! Honestly, 3 years ago I probably would have said the money and I'd donate half towards finding a cure, but now, no way, a cure is more important than almost anything else.
CURE!!!
All the $ in the world won't replace those children lost tp type 1, complications etc.
Funny most of our $ situation we are in now comes from the fact that we have a child with Type 1. It limits our works hours, people who can watch him (read we have no one) etc.
That million looks great, but id want nothing more than my son to live a D free life and all others as well.
without even thinking i said CURE! then i took a moment and mulled it over, and thought, well, what if i donated the 10 million dollars to finding a cure and then the cure was found that way. and then i thought, i wouldn't want to take a chance that even 10 mil wouldn't bring the cure, so my final answer is the same as my first. CURE.
A cure.. wow can you just imagine a cure :)
Like most of the above!! First thought...No doubt....
CURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:)
A cure. 10 million dollars won't take away diabetes.
Cure. No question
My hubby and I have played this game before too...and without hesitation CURE is the answer for both of us!
Cure. It's her health. I couldn't ever put a price on that. Now if it was ME?? I might take the money! :)
The comments above are interesting to me. Especially Elizabeth. I wonder if the answer is different if you are a parent of a child with diabetes or the PWD.
I don't know...
Cure. There have already been millions put into a cure, and we aren't there yet. And it's not just MY child that would be cured, it's all my friends too. There's nothing else I'd really need to buy. ; ) Great question-my kids have been playing "Would you Rather.." for at least a week! So funny!
A CURE!!! 10mil$ or any $ can't make your life wonderful! $ are not tickets to a wonderful life!!!There is more than just a money....
